Introduction
There are three underlying doctrines of the British constitution, namely:
the legislative supremacy of Parliament;
the rule of law; and
the separation of powers.
If your course includes a more detailed study of the British constitution, you will consider each of these doctrines in some detail at that stage, but whether or not this is so, it will be useful for us to consider each of them briefly here.
