Forgetting You Are in the Services Industry

You may have a professional license and fancy diploma, but lawyers are in the services industry just like doctors, plumbers, restaurant workers, and car mechanics. Our goal, as lawyers, is to make our colleagues, bosses, and clients' lives easier. That really is it. Don't get your head in a place that you are part of the legal industry, and you are above providing services for other people. Just because you get paid more than a client, for instance, doesn't mean you don't work for them. As the old saying goes, if you are getting paid, you have a boss.
