When an agreement is finally reached in mediation, it’s fairly common for the participants to be worn out and just want to go home. Patience.
You have one more major task—you need to put your agreement in writing. Even if your dispute was complicated and advisers will have to work out the details, you should still at least put an outline of it in writing before you leave the mediation table. In this chapter, we will explain how and when the agreement is written, what form it should take, and what it should include.
If you did not reach a settlement in mediation, skip to Chapter 8, which outlines your options.
